Coimbra Group Scholarship European Neighborhood Program

Candidates from European Neighborhood countries are invited to apply for the 2025-2026 Coimbra Group Scholarship European Neighborhood Program, a prestigious initiative fostering academic collaboration across borders. This program offers short-term research visits (typically 1–3 months) to young researchers affiliated with higher education institutions in eligible countries. Designed to bridge academic communities, the scholarship provides access to cutting-edge facilities, mentorship from leading scholars, and opportunities to present research at international conferences. Selected candidates will join a network of over 40 Coimbra Group universities, such as the University of Bologna and the University of Granada, renowned for their research excellence.

The scholarship’s core objective is to empower scholars to advance their ongoing research projects while establishing long-term academic partnerships. Beyond financial support for travel, accommodation, and research materials, participants gain access to specialized archives, laboratories, and interdisciplinary workshops. Funding is jointly provided by participating Coimbra Group member universities, with the Coimbra Group Office managing application logistics, including eligibility checks, host university matching, and visa assistance. Scholars are encouraged to publish findings through the Coimbra Group’s academic platforms, amplifying the impact of their work across Europe and beyond.

Why Apply? This program prioritizes early-career researchers in fields critical to regional development, including climate resilience, public health, and cultural heritage preservation. Alumni consistently report enhanced career prospects, with many securing EU-funded collaborations or faculty positions at partner institutions. Start preparing early to leverage this unparalleled opportunity for professional growth and global academic integration.
