BIMA Scholarship Program for Foreign Students
BIMA, which stands for Beasiswa Internasional Mahasiswa Asing (International Scholarship for Foreign Students), is a unique opportunity provided by Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta for foreign students. This scholarship enables selected candidates to pursue undergraduate or graduate studies in Indonesia, although it does not cover all associated costs. Applications for the 2025/2026 academic year are now open.

Program Details
- Host Institution: Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta (UAJY), Indonesia.
- Study Field: Various undergraduate and graduate programs.
- Duration: Bachelor’s (8 semesters), Master’s (3-4 semesters depending on the programme)
- Number of Scholarships: Open to eligible international applicants (one application per candidate).
- Target Group: Open to eligible international applicants (one application per candidate) seeking undergraduate or graduate studies.
BIMA Scholarship Program Benefits
Selected candidates for the scholarship will receive the following benefits depending on their level of education.
Bachelor’s Degree
For undergraduate applicants, the scholarship covers:
- Waiver of tuition fees (entry, fixed, and variable) for all 8 semesters.
- New Student Affairs fee waiver.
- Courseware fee waiver (excluding the cost of an iPad).
Note that BIMA is not fully funded. The following expenses are not covered:
- Bachelor’s visa fee (approximately IDR 500,000 per year).
- Immigration Stay Permits (ITAS) costs (around IDR 4,500,000 per year).
- Round-trip international airfare from the applicant’s home country to Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
- Living expenses (approximately IDR 3,000,000 per month).
- Boarding house fees (around IDR 1,500,000 per month).
- Medical costs and any additional academic-related activities (e.g., internships, student exchange, thesis work).
Master’s Degree
For graduate applicants, scholarship benefits include:
- Waiver of tuition fees (registration and program fees) for 3 semesters—or 4 semesters for Industrial Engineering.
- New Student Affairs fee and Courseware fee waiver.
- Optional Bahasa Indonesia language classes for 8 months if needed.
Similarly, the following costs are excluded from the scholarship:
- Master’s visa fee (approximately IDR 500,000 per year).
- Immigration Stay Permits (ITAS) costs (around IDR 4,500,000 per year).
- International airfare between the applicant’s home country and Yogyakarta.
- Monthly living and boarding expenses, medical costs, and other academic activities.

BIMA Scholarship Program Eligibility
Interested candidates must meet the following requirements depending on their level of education to apply for the BIMA scholarship.
Bachelor’s Applicants
- Must be a high school graduate by the academic year 2025/2026 or earlier.
- Age requirement: Candidates must be 21 years old or younger as of August 1, 2025.
Master’s Applicants
- Must hold a bachelor’s degree conferred in or before the 2025/2026 academic year.
- Age requirement: Candidates must be 25 years old or younger as of August 1, 2025.

- Complete the Form: Fill out the downloaded form accurately and attach it with your submission.
- Prepare Your Documents: Ensure all required documents are scanned, translated (if necessary), and saved in PDF or JPG format.
- Submit Your Application: Email all your documents in a single email to [email protected] with the subject line: “Submission – Bachelor’s/Master Degree – [Your Full Name]”.

- Scanned Academic Score Transcript
- Scanned Scholarship Application Essay addressing:
- Your motivation to join the scholarship
- Your reasons for choosing the study programme
- Scanned Passport (valid for at least 18 months, including cover and identity page)
- Scanned Formal Photograph
- Scanned Health Insurance Statement Letter
- Bank statement from parent/guardian confirming a balance of US$2,000 (as per Permenkumham Regulation No. 22/2023)
Master’s Degree Applicants
- Scanned Submission Form (refer to the ‘How to Apply’ section)
- Scanned Bachelor’s Diploma with English Translation
- Scanned Academic Score Transcript
- Scanned Scholarship Application Essay addressing:
- Your motivation to join the scholarship
- Your reasons for choosing the study programme
- Scanned Passport (valid for at least 18 months, including cover and identity page)
- Original Formal Photograph
- Scanned Health Insurance Statement Letter
- Bank statement from parent/guardian confirming a balance of US$2,000 (as per Permenkumham Regulation No. 22/2023)
- Scanned Recommendation Letter from your previous university
- Scanned Recommendation Letter from your workplace (if applicable)

- English Proficiency and Competency Test: 22 April – 5 May 2025
