Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarships (QECS) 2025 – Fully Funded Master’s Degrees in the Commonwealth

The Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarships (QECS) are now open for applications for 2025. These prestigious scholarships provide an incredible opportunity for students from low and middle-income Commonwealth countries to pursue a fully funded two-year Master’s degree at an ACU member university.

QECS are aimed at individuals who are committed to driving change in their communities. The scholarships are more than an academic opportunity—they offer a life-changing experience that promotes cross-cultural exchange, global collaboration, and lifelong connections through the Commonwealth network.

What the Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarship Covers

  • Fully-funded tuition fees

  • Living allowance (stipend) for the duration of the award

  • Return economy flights to the host country

  • One-time arrival allowance

  • Research Support Grant (on request and subject to approval)

  2. Visit the relevant university website to learn more about available programmes.

  3. Complete and submit your QECS application via the “Apply now” button:

  4. Apply separately to your chosen university for admission into your selected course.

Available Countries, Universities, and Programmes for 2025

Fiji – The University of the South Pacific (USP)

Programmes available:
Agriculture, Environmental Management, Geography, Marine Science, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Geospatial Science, Computing, Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics.
Entry requirement: Relevant undergraduate degree with GPA of 4.0/4.5.


Mauritius – University of Mauritius

Programme available:
Master of Public Health (MPH)
Entry requirements vary based on medical or non-medical background. A minimum of second-class honours or GPA of 2.5/4 is required.


Papua New Guinea – Papua New Guinea University of Technology (PNGUoT)

Programmes available:
Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Communication Engineering, Agriculture, Applied Physics, Climate Change, Forestry, Exploratory Geophysics.
Entry requirements: Merit degree or equivalent; GPA 3/5 minimum or two years of relevant experience.


South Africa

Tshwane University of Technology

Programmes include Performing Arts, Education Technology, Public Affairs, Agriculture, Engineering, Computing, Tourism Management, and Finance.


University of Pretoria

Programmes include Development Studies, Human Rights, Trade Law, Political Science, Theology.
Entry requirements: Honours degree or postgraduate diploma (NQF Level 8). SAQA certification required for international students.


University of the Free State

Programmes include Human Rights, Public Health, Nursing, Dietetics, Nutrition, Geo-informatics.
Entry requirement: Honours degree or equivalent with a minimum average of 65%.


University of Venda

Programmes include Public Health, Psychology, Public Nutrition, Nursing.
Entry requirement: 65% average in honours-level or equivalent qualifications.


Sri Lanka

University of Colombo

Programmes: MSc Cellular and Molecular Immunology, MSc Molecular Life Sciences.
Open to graduates in biological, medical, chemical, or related sciences.


University of Sri Jayewardenepura

Programme: Master of Business Administration (MBA)
Entry options include second-class bachelor’s degree, relevant experience, or equivalent professional qualifications.
